Ernest Thompson Seton Scout Naturalist Program
During the Summer of 2001, 24 Scouts and 6 adult leaders, from Baltimore Area Council and four other Scout Councils, participated in a Scout Naturalist Program held in three two-week sessions at Massawepie Scout Camp. The program was led by Marty Brazeau.
The first week of the program, held at the camp, focused on learning naturalist skills and participating in nature awareness activities. Scouts, in teams of two, were able to lead an interpretive hike to Scouts on Wednesday evening after dinner.
This loon patch was given to all participants.
Scout Naturalists received a Scout 56-page Naturalist Manual that contained guides on how to lead nature hikes and other activities to bring Scouts closer to nature. They returned home and earned interpreter, trip leader, and conservation segments as they presented naturalist programming with their unit.

Quietly paddling close to a bald eagle nest. We stayed far enough away to avoid disturbing the nestlings.

We portaged around Buttermilk Falls.
